Coaching: National Tutor Training Programme
As part of the IRFU Coach Development Training Programme the first competency-based Tutor Training programme was undertaken recently by the IRFU Coach Development Department in Malahide RFC recently.
The aim was to train selected tutors to deliver modules on IRFU Coaching Courses which will be held throughout the country during the summer. In the past this process was undertaken by the NCTC on behalf of National Governing Bodies of sport within Ireland.
With the support of the NCTC and the IRB, the IRFU produced and implemented it’s first formal tutor training course which was attended by 21 tutors from the 4 provinces.
Mark Harrington (IRB Training Manager) assisted in the delivery of the course as did Alistair Brown and Stephen Aboud (Coach Development Manager).
The NCTC Director Michael McGeehin was present to observe the course.
Colin Moran (Coach Development Officer) (pictured left) was Tutor Course Director.
The Tutors underwent an intense two days of training workshops and will attain their Tutor qualifications when they are observed successfully tutoring on IRFU coaching courses this summer.
