Exiles Add To Their Caps
More players who came through the Exiles system added to their Ireland caps and achievments last weekend for both Ireland and Ireland ‘A’.
Last Friday at Welford Road, the home ground of Leicester Tigers, two Exiles added to their honours by coming on as replacements for Ireland ‘A’ against England Saxons. They were tighthead prop Declan Fitzpatrick and hooker Adrian Flavin, currently with Ulster and Connacht respectively.
Fitzpatrick has previously been capped by Ireland ‘A’ and has been part of the last two Churchill Cup squads. He is from Worcestershire, came through the Exiles Screening system, and represented Ireland Under-19s and Under-21s, the latter including a World Cup final appearance in 2004.
Flavin is from Middlesex and very much a London Irish product. He played for England at both Under-16 and Under-18 levels before seeing the light and joining the Exiles. He then represented Ireland at both Under-19 and Under-21 levels.
They may both have been upstaged by Simon Easterby – starting for the full Ireland team last weekend – but we are proud of their progress and wish them well in their search for further Irish international honours.
