Parata Joins Donnellan At Top Of #EnergiaAIL Division 1A Try-Scoring Charts

It is level-pegging in both the points and try-scoring stakes after the opening three rounds of action in Energia All-Ireland League Men’s Division 1A.

The league takes a break for the October Bank Holiday weekend, so UCD scrum half Michael Moloney and Cork Constitution out-half James Taylor will take in the Halloween festivities as the top flight’s leading point scorers.

Moloney kicked 14 points in UCD’s 43-19 defeat at Clontarf, and his 36-point haul for the season so far is matched by Taylor who landed two conversions and two penalties during the first half of Con’s terrific 20-0 away victory over defending champions Terenure College.

City of Armagh’s Kiwi recruit Brayden Laing kicked 10 points as they brilliantly got the better of Shannon down in Limerick. That puts him on 22 points for the campaign to date, level with Shannon’s Mike Cooke and eight points behind Clontarf number 10 Conor Kelly.

Meanwhile, ‘Tarf captain Dylan Donnellan has registered his fourth try of 2023/24 already, but there are a few potential rivals assembling to challenge the prolific hooker.

Lansdowne’s new centre Rory Parata certainly enjoyed his run-0ut on the Aviva Stadium’s main pitch with a hat-trick against Ballynahinch last Saturday. He has also stepped up as captain in the injury-enforced absence of Cillian Redmond.

Parata is level with fellow former Ireland underage international Donnellan on four tries, and the pair are closely followed by Lansdowne duo James Kenny and Andy Marks, and ‘Hinch hooker Claytan Milligan.
