AIB Cup Draw Set For Ballynahinch
The draw for the first two rounds of the 2009/2010 AIB Cup will take place in Ballynahinch RFC on Saturday, September 5.
Reigning AIB Cup champions Ballynahinch will host the draw for the 2009/10 AIB Cup on Saturday, September 5, prior to their First Trust Ulster Senior League clash with Ballymena.
Rounds 1 and 2 of the AIB Cup will be drawn on the day in the ‘Hinch clubhouse.
All 48 teams in the AIB League will enter the draw with the teams in Division 2 and 3 drawn in the first round, while the teams from Divisions 1A and 1B will be included for the second round.
Ballynahinch were the giant killers last season and their cup run saw them defeat, amongst others, Shannon, Garryowen and finally Cork Constitution.
They also went on to secure promotion to Division 1B and to capture the Division 2 title a few weeks later in Dooradoyle, adding to an Ulster Senior League and Cup double.
The cup will be played over a shorter period of time this season with the final set for January 30th 2010.
The draw will be published here on www.IrishRugby.ie on the day.
The draw for the AIB Junior Cup will take place at a later date.
