Wicklow Fans Turn Out In Force For Leinster
Heineken Cup champions Leinster arrived in Wicklow RFC on Wednesday afternoon to be greeted by a huge crowd in excess of 3,000 for an open squad session ahead of the start of the new season.
Michael Cheika’s Leinster squad trained for just under an hour in perfect weather conditions, while the returning squad members who were involved with the Lions mingled with the crowd and signed autographs.
Supporters got the chance to see and hold the Heineken Cup, while the players continued working hard in preparation for the upcoming season.
After the session ended, the entire squad signed autographs and posed for photos with the enthusiastic crowd for over 90 minutes.
A formal presentation was then made by Wicklow RFC to Leinster captain Leo Cullen who hails from nearby Newtownmountkennedy.
Leinster’s next open session will take place next Wednesday afternoon, August 12 at 3pm in Malahide RFC.
The Malahide training session is open to the public and will give supporters the chance to again see the squad’s preparations for the new season at close quarters.
The players will be available for autographs and photographs afterwards.
