Irish Rugby TV Launches On YouTube With Lansdowne v Old Belvedere
History was made last Friday as Lansdowne and Old Belvedere became the first two club teams to play on the Aviva Stadium’s main pitch. The match was also the first to be streamed live on Irish Rugby TV. Now they feature on our newly-launched YouTube platform.
Irish rugby is now being broadcast to an even wider audience with the advent of Irish Rugby TV on YouTube.
The new YouTube channel will feature exclusive content from the Ireland team but will also serve as a platform to promote club rugby.
Our YouTube coverage kicks off with highlights from the historic first Ulster Bank League match on the Aviva Stadium’s main pitch: Lansdowne v Old Belvedere.
The game was streamed live last Friday on IrishRugby.ie, with commentary from Adrian O’Farrell and Gordon Black, to mark the historic first.
Irish Rugby TV will feature more highlights from the Ulster Bank League throughout the season as well as feature interviews from the domestic game.
Clubs will also be able to send in their own highlights to be featured on the dedicated YouTube channel, giving them and their sponsors access to a much bigger audience.
www.youtube.com/irishrugbytvofficial is already packed with extra content featuring an in-depth look at grassroots rugby through the eyes of players and officials from Armagh, Boyne, Cashel and Sligo as well as highlights from the IRFU Tag All-Ireland finals.
In addition, the newly-launched channel features a post-match interview with Lansdowne captain Ross McCarron from last Friday.
Speaking about the launch, IRFU Commercial and Marketing Director Padraig Power said: “We are delighted to launch Irish Rugby TV on YouTube. Our multimedia content has been very strong in recent seasons and YouTube allows us to bring that to an even bigger audience.
“It is also a great opportunity for us and for clubs to promote the domestic game and the Ulster Bank League.
“The quality of rugby being played is right up there and Irish Rugby TV on Youtube will showcase that throughout the season with more live games and highlights from all four divisions.”
