Connacht Sign Borlase On Loan
Connacht Rugby have confirmed that prop Peter Borlase will join the squad on a loan basis from Munster. The 26-year-old, 120kg New Zealander will come in to provide cover at tighthead prop with immediate effect.
Connacht have been hit with a number of injuries over the course of the season and with both Dylan Rogers (hamstring) and Rodney Ah You (foot) missing from action, Peter Borlase will provide extra depth in the crucial front row position.
Connacht return to the Sportsground on Saturday for their RaboDirect PRO12 encounter with Glasgow Warriors. Twelve months ago, the westerners secured an impressive bonus point victory over Glasgow at the Galway venue.
Winger Brian Tuohy, who scored a brace of tries in that game, will miss the return fixture this weekend with a broken leg.
The 27-year-old believes Connacht can produce a similar display, explaining: “I’ve no doubt the lads can turn over Glasgow this Saturday. They know what they’re about and they know they can beat them at home in front of a home crowd.
“After the victory over Harlequins three weeks ago the team know they have what it takes to take on a high-flying team that are going well and get a result.
“The fact that Glasgow are third in the League won’t phase them too much either and I know everyone’s looking forward to getting back to winning ways after last weekend’s loss to Cardiff, especially in front of the home crowd in the Sportsground.
“The noise they produced for the last Heineken Cup game here was unbelievable and it really does make a difference on the pitch,” added Tuohy.
