Connacht On Course For Season Ticket Record

Early Season Ticket sales at Connacht Rugby are reflecting the recent on field momentum with more than 2,000 fans already signing up to 2012/13 packages.

Sales over the past 10 days has been so high that expectations within the province are that last year’s record figure of nearly 3,200 will be easily surpassed.

The Season Tickets, which were put on sale at a much earlier juncture to cater for supporters’ demand, have been snapped up at preferential rates by existing holders.

Following on from what is seen by most as a watershed season for Connacht where interest surged off the back of the Heineken Cup, the sales to date show that a huge appetite exists in the region for rugby even with Heineken Cup participation for next year not yet confirmed.

A flurry of late wins and the culmination of a number of off-field developments have played a significant part in taking the province to the next level and the fantastic sales indicate that supporters are fully behind their team as it continues to develop and build on this season’s performances.

With the closing of renewals offer, Connacht Rugby have now opened up the early bird offer to the pre-registration list.

The initiative, enabling supporters without a Season Ticket last year to avail of some very competitive offers, has also proved popular.

Supporters that registered can avail of an exclusive priority purchase window until they go on general release on Monday, April 30. To date more than 400 people have registered which could see sales swell to nearly 2,500 over the weekend.

Connacht’s head of marketing Alex Saul said: “We are delighted with the early rate of sales for 2012/13 Season Ticket packages.

“Last season was a landmark with Heineken Cup participation, and it is extremely pleasing that our supporters are committing to next season at such an early juncture.

“Clearly our supporters thoroughly enjoyed the season, and that energy and enthusiasm has caught on throughout the province.

“This shows the strength of the ticket packages and the Connacht brand in its own right and that we are not overly reliant on Heineken Cup participation. That being said, we’d be over the moon if results fell our way this weekend.”

One of the most promising developments is the strong take-up of the family ticket which offers superb value for money and a great way to entertain the kids throughout the year, strengthening the province’s desire to really connect with families and kids throughout the region.

“Last week we held a Family Fun Day which saw more than a 1,000 children from the province descend on the Sportsground and everyone had a great day before witnessing the theatrical end of match events (against Aironi) and this has been backed up with family friendly offers for next season,” added Saul.

“These packages have been hugely popular and we’ve seen many families renew and introduce their friends at the same time.

“We’re happy that the value we are attempting to create here at the Sportsground is resonating with our fans and we can’t thank them enough for their support over the last few weeks. The journey ahead is very exciting.”
