Connacht Launch Excellence Training Camps
Connacht players James Loxton and Dave Nolan were on hand at the Sportsground to launch the 2012 Excellence Training Camps with co-ordinator Emer O’Dowd.
The week-long Excellence Training Camps are hosted by professional Connacht Development staff and aimed at 13 to 15-year-olds.
They will take place in three key locations across the province, Galway, Sligo and Athlone, starting from Monday, June 11.
The camps were created in conjunction with senior Connacht coaches and are designed to expand five key areas: Skills, Tactics, Positional Expertise, Conditioning & Nutrition and Knowledge to Achieve Rugby Excellence.
This is the first year that rugby camps for these age grades have been set up in Connacht and the content reflects the changing nature of rugby in Ireland, providing information and expertise on a wide range of relevant topics.
Speaking at the launch, senior camp administrator Emer O’Dowd said: “We are very excited about the launch of the three Excellence Camps. They will provide in-depth expertise and industry best practices from some of the province’s top coaches.
“By staging the camps in three strategic areas across the province we are able to provide the best possible coaching to as wide an audience as possible.
“We are confident that the camps will be a huge success and help bring through the next crop of professional and international players.”
The camps run from 9.30am until 3pm, Monday to Friday, and cost €;90. Places are limited to 50 per camp so early booking is advised. Click here to download an application form.
