Ulster Bank League: Division 2B Previews

ULSTER BANK LEAGUE: DIVISION 2B: Saturday, October 27th

Kick-off 2.30pm unless stated

Navan (2^nd) v Boyne (1^st), Balreask Old, Friday Night Lights 8pm

Near neighbours and local rivals Navan and Boyne could serve up a real cracker under lights on Friday night.

Both sides have won their opening two games and both have secured try bonuses to lead the table on ten points.

Boyne have only conceded 6 points to in their two games so Friday night will test their defence structures.

You can’t ask for a better mix in club rugby than this derby game so join the crowd in Navan on Friday night.

Connemara (16^th) v Nenagh Ormond (7^th), Monastery Field

Connemara were a force to be reckoned with last season but the opening two games this season have seen them ship over 100 points.

They will be keen to make amends for the 78 points they conceded to Naas last time out.

Nenagh Ormond bounced back from their opening day loss to put 41 points on Clonakilty and should be able to come away with the points again on Saturday.

Instonians (10^th) v Thomond (14^th), Shaws Bridge

Inst. have won one and lost one so far. A tight win over Skerries was followed by a loss to 2^nd place Navan.

Thomond have only managed a losing bonus point from their two games to date.

The home side look the more likely to take the points on Saturday in Shaw’s Bridge.

NUIM Barnhall (6^th) v Ards (15^th), Parsonstown

The home side lost to Naas on the opening weekend but came back with a bang against Thomond in week 2.

Ards are struggling early on having lost their two opening games.

Parsonstown may not offer much relief as NUIM Barnhall chase promotion again this season.

Skerries (8^th) v Naas (3^rd), Holmpatrick

Difficult to know yet how Skerries will fare in the Ulster Bank League. An opening day loss to Inst. was followed up with a home win over Suttonians.

By contrast Naas have enjoyed a very bright start to the league pipping NUIM Barnhall and then loading the scores on against Connemara.

This is perhaps a good test for both clubs to get their measure for the season ahead.

Sligo (12^th) v Armagh (5^th), Hamilton Park

Both sides maintained their Ulster Bank League status following promotion last year with Armagh finishing the higher.

Sligo lost to Navan and Boyne before beating Clonakilty and face another tough test on Saturday against Armagh.

The Ulster club will look to build on last season and will target this as an away game they can steal the points in.

Sunday’s Well (11th) v Rainey OB (4th), Musgrave Park

The Well started the season with a win over Thomond but conceded over 40 points to Armagh earlier this month in the Palace Grounds.

Rainey, like NUIM Barnhall, will have ambitions again this season adn with two wins under their belt they have started in the right manner.

The trip to Muzzer is another test for them and their ambitions as the Cork side are the perennial survivors.

Suttonians (9^th) v Clonakilty (13^th), JJ MCDowell Memorial Grounds

Suttonians are balanced in mid table with one win and one loss and all square on points difference.

Clon played Sligo last weekend and picked up a losing bonus point to go with their opening day draw either side of a loss to Nenagh Ormond.

Home advantage can be key and the Sutton club are well equipped to take the four points this weekend.
