Ulster Bank League: Round Robin Qualifiers Preview
Three teams remain in contention for promotion as we head into the final weekend of action in the Ulster Bank League Round Robin qualifiers, writes Rob Murphy from www.Knockon.ie.
ULSTER BANK LEAGUE QUALIFIERS: Saturday, April 12
THIRD ROUND FIXTURES –
KANTURK (2nd) v CLOGHER VALLEY (3rd), Knocknacolan, 2.30pm
WANDERERS (1st) v OLBC (4th), Aviva Stadium back pitch, 2.30pm
In Dublin on Saturday, Wanderers host OLBC knowing that a win of any kind will guarantee automatic promotion and a return to senior rugby.
In Cork, Kanturk entertain Clogher Valley needing a win or a draw to at least guarantee second position and a play-off with Instonians from Division 2B at Shaw’s Bridge on Saturday week.
A victory for Clogher will at the very least book them a place in the play-off against the Belfast side.
The odds point to home wins this weekend, Connacht side OLBC have acquitted themselves well so far, losing narrowly at home to Kanturk and seeing a second half lead whittled away against Clogher, but they are unlikely to upset the leaders Wanderers.
Meanwhile, Kanturk at home might have the edge on the Ulster champions but that is going to come down to fine margins in the end.
