Bangor v Clogher Valley, Upritchard Park
Bangor have fought their way to the semi-finals with two tough games. A late, late score against Clonmel in the opening round earned them a home quarter-final against the cup holders Enniscorthy. That proved to be a very close affair with Bangor edging it 14-12.
Clogher Valley had an equally tight win over Clondalkin by 16-14, but their quarter-final saw them run up over 40 points against Connemara.
On Saturday Bangor host Clogher Valley who are currently eight points ahead of them in the Kukri Qualifying League in Ulster.
Bangor won the league match between the two sides back in October on a 15-12 scoreline. It all seems set up for an absolutely cracking semi-final with little to choose between the teams.
CIYMS v Dundalk, Circular Road
CIYMS had a big win over Ballinasloe in round 1 but they had to work hard in the quarter-final to overcome Coolmine on the road – no easy feat.
Their form in the Ulster League has been mixed and they are currently seventh with three wins. That said, they only lost by a point to fellow semi-finalists Bangor last weekend.
Dundalk’s route to the semis came from wins over Cobh Pirates and Newcastle West. Both were relatively comfortable victories so they face their biggest test to date on Saturday.
That said they are currently top of the Leinster League with seven wins out of eight and a serious points difference. They have been hard to score against, conceding only 82 points, and will be hard to breakdown at the weekend.
