Former World Sevens Series referee David Keane has been appointed to the World Rugby Sevens Referee Selector Panel.

David Keane has been chosen to represent Ireland and the IRFU on the Women’s Referee Selector Panel.

He played rugby up until the age of 17 when an injury ended his playing career. Wanting to continue his involvement with the game, he took up refereeing at his school, Clongowes Wood College.

He continued his development in Old Belvedere and spent time in Australia training with international referees Wayne Erickson, Peter Marshall and Stuart Dickinson in the early part of his career.

Keane will also continue in his role as Participation Rugby Operations Manager with the IRFU.
