Newly Promoted Tullamore Kick Off Against Champions
Tullamore will start their Division 1 campaign with the daunting prospect of hosting the reigning champions and perennial powerhouse of Women’s rugby – UL Bohs – on Sunday afternoon.
Women’s rugby in Tullamore has gone from strength to strength in recent seasons as evidenced by their promotion to the top flight and the capture of the All-Ireland Plate last season.
On Sunday, however, they face defending champions UL Bohemians who completed yet another league and cup double. The won thirteen out of fourteen league matches last season and accumulated nine try bonuses along the way.
The action kicks off on Saturday afternoon when Cooke face Old Belvedere in Shaws Bridge, that match kicking off at 5pm.
Railway Union who finished second in the league kick off their campaign with a trip to Crowley Park on Sunday to face Galwegians while last season’s beaten cup finalists Blackrock are away to Highfield.
