From the minute Kearney, 19, set foot on the pitch at Naas RFC for his first start for the province (where he incidentally bagged a hat-trick against pre=season opponents Parma), the County Louth youngster has illustrated his determination and commitment to the job in hand – scoring a try in each of his first three Celtic League matches – a competition record.

The man-of-the-match award followed for his superb performance against Glasgow and he also received a call-up to the recent Ireland training camp. All in all it’s been a fairly eventful month for the UCD student, who captained during last summer’s IRB Under-19 World Cup.

Kearney beat off worthy challenges from team mates Girvan Dempsey, Guy Easterby and Felipe Contepomi all of whom put in sterling performances in each of the Celtic League matches so far this month.

In addition to winning the public support of the fans, Kearney also receives a specially commissioned trophy designed by award winning Dublin silversmith Seamus Gill.

This Bank of Scotland (Ireland) initiative gives the Leinster fan base the chance to applaud the Leinster player who, in their opinion, has gone the extra distance in support of the team during the previous month.
