Harrison, who is set to make his competitive debut for Mark McCall’s side against Cardiff this Friday, moved to Belfast with his wife Yanneka last month and admitted it “was an easy decision” to link up with Ulster.

Sydney-born Harrison, who made his Test debut against the Lions in 2001, played 34 times for the Wallabies and will be a valuable asset to McCall through the Celtic League and Heineken Cup.

We asked you in our latest poll: Which of the province’s newly signed locks will have the biggest impact this season?”

Out of 1,352 registered votes, Harrison polled 45% (613 votes), Munster’s Mick O’Driscoll, who has returned to his roots after two seasons in Perpignan, ranked second with 23% (318). Connacht’s Kiwi recruit Andrew Gallagher came in third with 20% (282), while Leinster’s Adam Byrnes, who signed from Australian side the Eastern Suburbs in the close season, garnered 10% (139) for fourth).

Many thanks to all those who voted.
