irishrugby.ie users have given Denis Leamy’s first international outing as a number eight the thumbs-up – the Munster back row was voted man-of-the-match against the All Blacks in our latest poll.
We asked you: “Who was Ireland’s man-of-the-match against New Zealand?”
From the 3589 votes received, the Tipperary man emerged victorious – but only just. Leamy received 883 votes for a poll-topping 24% share. Just behind him was Leinster centre Gordon D’Arcy, who was involved in a spear-tackling incident with Ma’a Nonu after 52 minutes of the 45-7 defeat. D’Arcy gained 23% (832).
Next up was the “Other” option, polling 20% (719), with full-back Geordan Murphy, who put in a competent display, likely to be on many fans’ minds. Fourth and fifth respectively were Munster’s Marcus Horan 17% (629), who scored Ireland’s only try against the All Blacks, and Donncha O’Callaghan 14% (526), who offered Eddie O’Sullivan’s side a lineout platform and a decent presence in the loose.
