On Tuesday Team Ireland officially ratified the selection of the Ireland Men’s and Women’s Sevens squads to compete at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. Both squads are currently training at the IRFU High Performance Centre.
Guinness Six Nations winner Hugo Keenan has returned to the 7s squad in recent weeks and has claimed a spot on the plane to Paris, while dual star and Women’s Grand Slam winner Ashleigh Orchard is back in the Women’s squad having returned to action after the birth of her first child.
The Ireland Sevens squads will continue their preparations for Paris at the IRFU High Performance Centre, before travelling to Tours – the base city used by Andy Farrell’s Ireland squad during last year’s Rugby World Cup – for a 10-day training camp in July.
The Pool draws for the Rugby Sevens tournaments will take place on 23 June.
