Recovering from captain Lucy Mulhall Rock’s injury-enforced departure, the Ireland Women’s Sevens team went up through the gears in the second half to secure a 38-0 win over South Africa.
The result was a timely boost at the end of day one at the Stade France, moving Ireland level on four points with second-placed Great Britain in Pool B.

On the Ireland Women’s Olympic debut, Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe had led the try-scoring with three tries so far, followed by Béibhinn Parsons who bagged a brace against South Africa.
