What Is IQ Rugby?
IQ Rugby operates as an intergral link of the IRFU High Performance Pathway, offering Irish Qualified (IQ) players an opportunity to progress towards playing in and/or for Ireland.
IQ Rugby was established by the IRFU in 2017, to formally identify and develop Irish Qualified athletes from outside of Ireland.
Building on the solid foundation of work provided by the IRFU Irish Exiles across the last 30 years, IQ Rugby are responsible for the identification and registration of IQ athletes, providing an important link to both provincial (Connacht, Leinster, Munster, Ulster) and national (Ireland representative teams) performance pathways.
The video below shows the IQ Rugby U18 side as they took part in a ten-day IRFU U-18 Interprovincial Festival at the University of Limerick. We hear from coaches and players about their path to a green jersey and their experience at the tournament.
