Ireland Retain The Admiral Brown Cup

Peter O'Mahony, who took over as on-field captain following James Ryan's departure, was presented with the Admiral Brown Cup afterwards.


The trophy was first played for between Ireland and Argentina at the Aviva Stadium in November 2012. It is named after Admiral William Brown, the Irish-Argentine who founded the Argentine Navy.

Ireland's pack, take a bow.


As well as dealing with two late changes up front, the forwards outmuscled the Pumas and scored all seven of Ireland's tries.


Josh van der Flier with a brace, Caelan Doris and Tadhg Beirne with one each, and the front row trio of Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan and Cian Healy all crossed the whitewash.


Job done, 53-7.

He only missed one place-kick, hitting the post. He finished with 18 points from six successful conversions and two penalties. Getting game-time at out-half and then in the full-back position.

Some late niggle, but Argentina are seeking a consolation try from a tap penalty.


Ireland reorganise in defence, and Beirne, Baird and out-half Byrne at the heart of a choke tackle, holding up the Pumas past the try-line to signal the end of the match.


That is full-time and the Autumn Nations Series wraps up here at the Aviva, Ireland registering a thumping 53-7 win over 14-man Argentina.
