What a response from Nichola Fryday and her team-mates.


Nine tries, a hat-trick for Neve Jones, six debuts on the night, and 12 points from teenage out-half Dannah O'Brien.


There were also debut tries for Aoife Dalton and Meabh Deely.


Plenty to enjoy in the overall performance, with the bench making an impact during the second half.


Roll on Tokyo next week and the second Test next Saturday! Thank you for your company on a historic night for Irish Women's rugby.

What a way to finish. The ball topples off the tee and O'Brien has to drop kick the conversion.


No fuss, she nails the kick as Ireland win 57-22 here in Shizuoka.


An amazing comeback from the girls in green, particularly with some a young back-line on board.


They trailed 15-0 early on but dominated at set piece time, particularly in the maul, and amassed nine tries.

The try comes! It is Hooban who finishes expertly from a couple of metres out.


Japan gave away a free-kick at a scrum. Ireland opted for another set piece, Moore attacked well off the base.

It has certainly been a memorable occasion for McWilliams' charges, who have tallied up eight tries in all.


Unfortunately, Monaghan is hobbling off. All the replacements have been used so Ireland will see out the game with 14 players. Tarpey goes in to play flanker at a scrum.
