Liam played rugby for Athlone RFC, later Buccaneers, and UCG and is a member of Buccaneers. He played at junior and senior level for Connacht in the 70s and 80s.
A chartered accountant by profession he was first appointed to the Connacht Professional Game Board in 2009. He served on the PGB until 2017 and was Chair for three years before being appointed Chairperson of the Board of Connacht Rugby.
Currently retired from practice Liam serves as INED and Chairman at a number of Family Companies and Chairman at a number of not-for –profit entities including Connacht Rugby, Governing Body Athlone Institute of Technology and Quality Committee of Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board.
