University of Limerick is one of the exciting additions to the list of IRFU Volkswagen Tag Rugby venues for the summer of 2019. Games take place on the North Campus all-weather pitches adjacent to the UL Pavilion.
The Summer League commences on Tuesday, May 21 and runs for eight weeks. The finals night takes place on Friday, July 9.
“This is the first time we’ve had IRFU Volkswagen Tag in UL,” says Venue Co-ordinator Brendan Guilfoyle. “We’ve just had a very successful Spring League and we’re looking forward to our Summer League. The University of Limerick is the perfect location for Tag in Limerick. It’s the Centre of Excellence for Munster Rugby.
“UL Bohemians’ All-Ireland League team are based here. It’s so accessible for everyone in Limerick. It just makes perfect sense to have Tag rugby based here.”
Fellow co-ordinator Amy Ní Dhonnabháin says the social nature of the league is a big part of its appeal.
“A lot of people come after work just to have a good time and to have good fun. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere. People get to know one another. It’s a brilliant environment to meet new people,” she said.
