#EnergiaAIL Men’s Division 1A: Round 3 Highlights

Last season’s top three finishers in Division 1A are also leading the way at the end of the first block of 2024/25 fixtures. Unbeaten Clontarf are setting the early pace, following their third straight bonus point win.

Check out the highlights from a round that produced some titanic tussles, including City of Armagh’s first victory of the new campaign, and a rip-roaring repeat of last April’s semi-final between Terenure College and Lansdowne.

CORK CONSTITUTION 25 YOUNG MUNSTER 5

Cork Constitution ended Young Munster’s winning start to the season in heavy wind and rain at Temple Hill. Matthew Bowen’s early second half try made it 25 unanswered points, before replacement Eoin McCormack replied for the Cookies.

BALLYNAHINCH 36 ST. MARY’S COLLEGE 33

Four first half tries, including a brace from winger Ethan Graham, set up Ballynahinch’s second home victory of the season. St. Mary’s College bounced back to pocket two bonus points, so only drop one place to fourth in the table.

GARRYOWEN 6 CITY OF ARMAGH 13

Scrum half Lewis Finlay sniped over in the 56th minute for the only try of the game, as City of Armagh opened their win account at Dooradoyle. A closing penalty from Kelvin Langan earned a losing bonus point for Garryowen.

TERENURE COLLEGE 28 LANSDOWNE 22

Terenure College came from 12 points down to beat Lansdowne in another heavyweight clash. The visitors got off to a flyer thanks to an Andy Marks brace, but ‘Nure won this six-try thriller thanks to Craig Adams’ 75th-minute breakaway effort.

UCD 15 CLONTARF 30

UCD put it up to league leaders Clontarf, with Charlie Molony and Ruben Moloney combining for a fine try in the 54th minute. However, ‘Tarf claimed the game’s final 18 points, including final quarter tries from Fionn Gilbert and Seni Reilly Ashiru.
