Irish Rugby ‘Hive Learning’ Resource Relaunched
Irish Rugby’s online resource for the coaching community has been relaunched for the 2019/20 season.
It is a busy time in the rugby calendar with the domestic season now in full swing. Across the Aldi Play Rugby programme alone, over 70 Aldi Play Rugby Nations Festivals are to take place in the coming weeks.
Over 20,000 boys and girls will participate across the four provinces in September-October. Over 750 pupils attended the event in Coolmine RFC alone. Irish Rugby TV was there to capture the excitement of participants from 12 schools across the Fingal area of Dublin:
‘Hive Learning’ is where Irish Rugby’s online resources are housed. It is an interactive community-based platform where teachers, parents and coaches can engage and access a wide array of coaching materials.
It also serves to give volunteers access to professional support in their local area through a detailed contact database.
Among the coaching materials available is an eight-week introductory programme for Tag rugby and Rugby Prime. The programme is video-based to give both novice and experienced coaches a comprehensive toolkit to help children on their rugby journey.
Sessions are broken down with easy-to-follow instructions as part of a game-based approach. Small-sided games and exercises focusing on skill development form part of the reduced activities.
Coaches and prospective coaches who would like to access Hive Learning should go to https://irfu.hivelearning.com/aldiplayrugby/. The pass key is !R1SHRUG8Y1874.
The platform also provides access to a wealth of additional resources around the values of Irish Rugby, Spirit of Rugby and adapted formats such as Sevens rugby and X-Rugby.
The Aldi Play Rugby programme continues to grow with over 109,000 boys and girls getting involved last season. For more on the programme and to register your school, go to AldiPlayRugby.ie.
