Irish Rugby TV: Nucifora On Sustaining Development Of Irish Rugby

IRFU Performance Director David Nucifora spoke to media this week to review the 2018/19 season and look forward to what is coming down the line for Irish Rugby’s representative teams.

A focus on the developmental pathways is crucial to sustaining success in Irish Rugby. Nucifora stressed the need to invest in player and coach development. He also referenced the opening of the IRFU High Performance facility at Abbotstown which will allow ‘Irish Rugby to go to another level with our training facilities’. He commented:

You can never take your eye off the ball at the top end. You always have to try and find ways to be better and to build on what you’ve got. It might be small incremental gains that you’re looking for across a lot of different areas.”

In a wide-ranging briefing with the media, he also spoke about the success at provincial level with all four provinces reaching the GUINNESS PRO14 final series and qualifying for next season’s Heineken Champions Cup. Leinster were runners-up in Europe and contest tomorrow’s PRO14 final in Glasgow.
