The IRFU Sevens Programme is already producing very positive results. The Rugby World Cup Sevens and the future prospect of the Olympics is a real opportunity for the game and players to develop. We spoke to IRFU Performance Director David Nucifora about how the programme is shaping up.
This weekend sees the Ireland Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams in action at the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series in France, as preparations continue in the build-up to the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco next month.
We spoke to IRFU Performance Director David Nucifora recently about the progress made in the Sevens Programme. Speaking about the future, he said: “Our ambition is not just to get both teams on the World Series, our ambition is to get both teams qualified for the Olympics and to go on and win medals.”
