The Ireland Women’s Sevens, were in Langford, on Vancouver Island at the beginning of May to compete at the Canada 7s and we were with them as they managed the aspects of travel, enjoyed the town of Victoria, fuelled up for two big days of Sevens rugby and competing against of Spain, Australia, Canada, Fiji and France.
At a tournament which saw the side claim their best placing on the World Series since becoming a core team (6th) – hear from the players as they describe how they pick themselves up after a defeat and how they are constantly looking for top performance every time they pull on the green jersey.
We speak to top try scorer Amee-Leigh Murphy-Crowe on her highlights from the trip and hear from Eve Higgins on how the students in the squad balanced studying for their up and coming exams with training and preparing for the tournament.
Stacey Flood, who was one of the top overall performers over the weekend and was named on the DHL Team of the Tournament tells us about the team’s favourite food spot in Victoria, while Performance Nutritionist Marcus Shortall gives an insight into how the team fuel up during a tournament week.
