Excitement, nerves, the world stage and incredible Ireland fans – Rory Best on the build-up to the squad’s first game at the Rugby World Cup in Japan. He told Irish Rugby TV:
When you come to the match venue, that’s when it starts to dawn on you. The magnitude of the tournament, the excitement. You have to let the emotions come through and put yourself in the best position to put in your best performance for your country.
“Even though we’re the other side of the world there’s so many Irish here. We know they’ll be in full voice. The exciting thing for us is to produce a performance to be proud of. If we do that we know the fans will be proud of us too.”
